Mildred Evelyn Wise, 94, Oblong, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018,at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL.
Mildred was born August 23, 1924, to Chalon and Carrie Florence (Minor) Campbell in Jefferson County, Illinois. She married Clifford Newcomb on September 3, 1940. On July 5, 1980, she married Carl Kirk. She married Lee Wise on May 11, 1994.
Mildred was the librarian in Oblong for many years. She was part owner with her husband of Newcomb Furniture in Mt.Vernon, Illinois, and a homemaker.
She was active in her church when it was Oblong Wesleyan Church and now known as Oblong Cornerstone Church. She also enjoyed collecting Cranberry and Blue Opalescent Glassware.
Mildred is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Midge Newcomb, of Robinson, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Joe Bliss, of Oblong, IL, and Carol and Bill Gosnell, of Hernando, FL; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her three husbands and her parents.
